Day 1 — Arusha → Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins with elephants and baobabs.
After breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up in Arusha and begin the journey toward Tarangire National Park.
As you enter the park, the scenery changes dramatically. Giant baobab trees rise above the landscape while elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest and other wildlife move through the grasslands.
You will enjoy a game drive through the park before heading to your lodge for the evening.

Day 2 — Tarangire → Lake Manyara
From giant elephants to a green wildlife world.
After breakfast, continue toward Lake Manyara National Park.
Lake Manyara is smaller than the Serengeti, but it has a surprisingly rich variety of landscapes. You can move from groundwater forests to open grasslands and wetlands within the same game drive.
Look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, monkeys and colorful birdlife.
In the late afternoon, leave the park and continue to your accommodation in the Karatu/Manyara area.

Today is one of the big moments of your safari.
After breakfast, drive toward the Serengeti. As you climb through the Ngorongoro Highlands and eventually reach the Serengeti plains, the landscape begins to open into vast grasslands.
This is the Tanzania many travelers dream about.
Enter the Serengeti and begin your first game drive as you make your way toward your accommodation in the central Serengeti.
Keep your eyes open. Lions may be resting under trees, giraffes may cross the road and herds of zebra and wildebeest can appear almost anywhere.

Day 4 — Full-Day Serengeti Safari
A whole day for the wildlife.
This is the day that makes this itinerary different.
There is no need to pack your bags and move to another park.
After breakfast, leave your lodge with a packed lunch and spend the day exploring the Serengeti.
Your guide will choose the best areas to explore based on recent wildlife sightings, the season and animal movements.
You may encounter lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, zebras and wildebeest.
And because wildlife is wild, every game drive is different.
Return to your accommodation in the evening for dinner and your second night in the Serengeti.

After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for your final major game drive.
The crater floor is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. You may see lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras, wildebeest and many other species.
With luck, you may even spot the endangered black rhino.
After your crater experience, enjoy lunch and begin the drive back to Arusha.

When Is the Best Time for This Safari?

But different months give you different experiences

The weather is generally dry, vegetation is lower and animals are often easier to spot around water sources.
