With GreyJoy Safari Adventures, your journey begins in Zanzibar, where you’ll travel by boat to Dar es Salaam before continuing by road with one of our professional drivers into Nyerere National Park (formerly the famous Selous Game Reserve). After your adventure, you’ll enjoy a scenic flight back to Zanzibar for a smooth and memorable return.
Nyerere National Park, established in 2019, is now the largest national park in Africa, covering more than 30,000 square kilometers. The park is a true wilderness paradise, home to untouched landscapes, diverse wildlife, and the mighty Rufiji River, which winds through the park, creating a unique ecosystem rich in life.

Day 1: Zanzibar – Dar es Salaam – Selous & Afternoon Boat Safari
Your adventure with GreyJoy Safari Adventures begins with a warm welcome from our professional driver in Dar es Salaam. From here, you’ll transfer by boat across the turquoise waters from Zanzibar and continue your journey to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve). The drive along Kilwa Road takes about 5 hours (or 4 hours if you take the Kisarawe Road). On arrival, we’ll take you straight to your camp or lodge where you can relax and freshen up.
In the late afternoon, around 16:00, you’ll head out for an exciting boat safari on the Rufiji River – Tanzania’s longest river at 600 km (370 miles). As the sun sets, you’ll glide along the water spotting hippos, crocodiles, riverine birds, and stunning cliffs, with the golden glow of Africa as your backdrop.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Nyerere National Park
After a hearty breakfast, your guide will take you on a full-day safari game drive beginning at 07:30. Nyerere is a vast and diverse wilderness, home to elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and a wide variety of birdlife. You’ll explore changing landscapes, from open grasslands and wetlands to acacia woodlands and rolling highlands with sweeping mountain views in the distance.
At midday, enjoy a delicious packed lunch in the bush before continuing your game drive until evening. You’ll return to your lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay, reflecting on the day’s unforgettable encounters.

Day 3: Walking Safari & Flight Back to Zanzibar
On your final morning, before breakfast, experience the thrill of a guided walking safari in the company of an armed ranger. This is a wonderful way to connect with nature up close – feeling the wilderness beneath your feet, hearing the calls of the bush, and learning about smaller wildlife often missed on drives.
After the walk, return to your lodge for breakfast and prepare for your transfer to Mtemere Airstrip. From there, you’ll board your flight back to Zanzibar, carrying unforgettable memories of your Selous adventure with GreyJoy Safari Adventures.
