The journey to Ndutu takes about 5.5 hours, covering a distance of 260 km. After driving for 2 hours, you will enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you progress, you’ll notice the landscape transitioning from hilly forests to vast plains and lush grasslands, eventually merging into the Serengeti. Ndutu lies along the migratory route of over 2 million wildebeest, along with thousands of zebras, antelopes, and gazelles.

If you’re visiting during the migration season (from December to April), the fertile plains transform into calving and nursery grounds, attracting predators hunting for vulnerable young wildebeest. Surrounded by Ndutu Lake and Lake Masek, these waterholes provide abundant wildlife, especially during the dry season. Additionally, Ndutu is home to six species of big cats.
